Introduction

Andy and Christi want the first episode of their True Crime podcast to be the best it can be. Through their search for the perfect mystery, they come across the story of Jackalope, WY.

On July 20th, 1997, this little desert town became this generation's Roanoke that no one spoke about. Determined to discover the source behind the disappearances, Andy and Christi travel to the abandoned town where something waits for them...

Will the two uncover Jackalope's disturbing past, or will they join the missing townspeople?

This seems like an advanced project, a lot of time invested.  Unfortunately there are many bugs, especially with the Recommended version, and those are mainly getting stuck in places with no way to escape and going through barriers unintentionally and getting stuck there.  Other bugs are camera issues, getting off-screen and being unable to find your way back.  The Jam Version has less bugs but also less polish.  Because of frequently having to restart the game the introduction should be skippable.  The dialogs also should be able to be forwarded at will and/or skippable, because they are much too slow and that breaks the flow of the game.  The characters are difficult enough to move under normal controls, having one hobbling like an Orangutan is just a miserable control experience.  I wasn't able to complete either version, even after many attempts, having to start over and over just became impossible and the will to continue simply died.  If this game was seriously playtested, all of the problems could be fixed and then it would be a usable product and a interesting gaming experience.

Thank you so much for this feedback! We ended the jam with only half of the team members we started with, so it's fair to say we bit off more than we could chew here. We're tinkering with a 1.2 update to get these issues fixed, as well as un-cut a lot of the story content that we didn't have time to include.

I am really surprised to hear that your experience with 1.1 was buggier than the jam version. Can you remember the specific areas that you got stuck or entered a blind spot? That was one of the things I had paid a significant amount of attention to between the two versions so I'm shocked to find I somehow made it worse...

I take your point completely about being able to skip dialogue, it was skippable during development, but removed because there were a few lines that were synced to other events in-game and needed to be timed carefully. Not an impossible problem, just out of the scope of the jam deadline.

Thanks again for playing and taking the time to share your experience.
